HEIC conversion

HEIC unsupported variants

HEIC is a container family, not one simple image format. Some files are valid but still outside the converter's supported codec, profile, size, or orientation path.

What to know

1

HEIC and HEIF can contain different variants

Container brands, codec profiles, bit depth, image sequences, and metadata can differ across devices and apps. Unsupported variants should fail clearly instead of producing misleading output.

2

Orientation and color need review

Even successful conversion can change visible orientation, wide-gamut color, metadata behavior, or file size. Open the JPG or PNG output before uploading or replacing the original.

3

JPG and PNG serve different destinations

JPG is usually smaller and broadly compatible. PNG can be larger and better when avoiding additional JPG compression matters. Choose based on destination requirements.

4

Keep originals until the output is accepted

Because HEIC conversion can be variant-sensitive, keep the original photo until the converted output has been reviewed and accepted by the destination system.
